Couples Counselling

It’s a common misconception that couples seek counselling as a last resort when a crisis point has been reached and the relationship has all but broken down completely. This doesn’t have to be the case. Couples counselling can help the couple to understand and resolve minor issues in the relationship before they develop into destructive resentment and arguments.

There may be times when a couple come to counselling to help end their relationship in a positive way, in that any anger and resentment is left in the counselling room and not taken into their new lives as separate people. Through couples counselling, you can make thoughtful decisions about rebuilding and strengthening your relationship, or going your separate ways in an emotionally healthy and productive way.

There are many reasons why a couple seek counselling; communication issues, loss of intimacy, sexual problems, the impact of infidelity or becoming parents, bereavement, lack of romance and excitement – whatever the reason may be, I provide a safe, neutral, non-judgemental space, where each of you is held in equal regard, not one ‘right’ and the other ‘wrong’. It’s not about blame, but about working together to recognise and explore the conflicts and how you can both move forward to a better place of wellbeing, whilst equipping you both with the tools to improve your communication, solve problems and negotiate difficulties in a more constructive and healthy way.
